This delightful and unique case is signed “U. S. Patent 283170” on the inner gold cuvette. The cuvette is signed by the maker and the unique square-shaped case is fully chased with wonderful swirl patterns, flowers, a small initialed crest and scallop designs. The fancy dial comes with miniature multi-colored flowers which form a colorful wreath around center. The dial is signed “Albert Lavalle” and is marked with Roman chapters, gold 5-minute numerals and fancy gold hands. The 10 jewel nickel bridge movement is nicely designed. $650.00

#2. HAAS SWISS HIGH-GRADE ENAMEL FOR SHREVE, CRUMP & LOW CO.

The “Haas” signature can be found on the center bridge of this super quality 17 jewel nickel bridge movement. The movement and dial are both signed “Shreeve, Crump & Low Co.” The golden dial comes with a beautiful sunburst pattern, black Arabic hour chapters, black minute marks and blue spade pointers. The case is exquisite with rose-cut diamonds ornamenting the platinum bow. The yellow-gold case is signed “Haas” and it carries a delicate platinum rosette with diamonds set against the blue-gray guilloche enamel on the back cover, a white enameled border ring is also presented. $650.00

Very impressive, this superior timepiece was produced by the prestigious firm of Haas Neveus & Cie. The 20 jewel bridge movement features wolfs tooth winding gears and a straight line lever escapement. The inner gold cuvette is signed “9/95 Haas Neveus & Cie Geneva-Paris.” The case is near mint, wonderful rose-cut diamonds ornament the upper bow, the outer rim and a initial pattern which centers the back cover. The case is also finished with beautiful rich blue enameling on the back, the front bezel and on the upper yellow-gold ribbon bow pendant pin. White enamel decorates the outer borders of the case. Breguet moon hands center the silver dial which is marked with Arabic hour chapters. Very nicely designed, this gilt bridge movement features eighteen ruby jewels and a straight line lever escapement. The case is centered by an exquisite lacy platinum design which is ornamented with rose-cut diamonds. This sits atop the hypnotic blue sunburst-style enameled background. The case is presented with a gold cylindrical link chain which measures 22” in length. The links are beautifully enameled with blue and white colors. Tissot & fils 16 Jewels 3 Adjustments.” The nickel bridge movement carries gold kite-style hands and a silver dial which is signed “Walser.” Raised gold Arabic hour chapters and outer silver minute dots mark the dial. The interesting case is finished with black enamel on the upper bow and the outer rim. The front bezel is also trimmed with a white enameled outer border. Black Arabic hour chapters and a black minute track mark this silver dial, the dial is signed “Election.” The eleven lignes 3/4 plate gilt movement carries 15 jewels and a straight line lever escapement. The gold case is uniquely designed with a coin edge pattern round the outer rim. Blue enameled vertical striping and white enameled accents appear on the front and back covers of the case, the Art Deco inspired case is nicely engine turned. A large uninitialed crest centers the front cover and beautiful flower patterns ornament the center areas. $700.00

#9. INTER (SWISS) FANCY-SHAPED TWO-TONE GOLD CASE

The Art Deco influence is shown on the styling on this unique case. The back cover alternates yellow and white vertical striped areas as well as the large uninitialed fancy frame. The outer edges are chased with leaf and ribbon patterns. The front bezel is fully engraved. It forms a wonderful border around the dial which is decorated with a blue and silver flower pattern at center and blue Arabic chapters. Blue kite-style hands center the dial. The movement is nicely finished with seventeen ruby jewels. It is marked “Adjusted 5 Positions & Temperature.” The movement is signed “Inter Swiss.” The 3/4 plate model features extra-large friction-set ruby jewels. $750.00

#11. MOVADO UNIQUE ENAMEL & GOLD WATCH WITH FANCY DIAL & DIAMOND

This one-of-a-kind timepiece is a interesting opera-style watch which was designed to present an extra-slender elegant profile, this was achieved by using a smaller 15 jewel Movado movement which measures 10.5 lignes. The nickel movement is signed “15 Jewels 4 Adjustments.” it is fitted into an inner circular support ring which gives the movement and dial an offset appearance. The unique offset dial is engraved with a golden wavy line pattern in the background areas, it is marked with Arabic hour chapters set against silver circular frames. The dial is enhanced by a royal-blue border on the front area of the case. The lower portion of this case presents a beautiful dazzling .25 Ct. diamond. The back cover of the case is finished with a guilloche pattern and royal-blue enamel. A white enameled outer bordering is also a feature of this unique one-of-a-kind case. $2,400.00

#12. JS. ASSMANN, GLASHUTTE RARE LADY’S GOLD HIGH-GRADE

Ultra-rare, this 17 jewel 3/4 plate gilt movement is signed “J. Assmann Glashutte No. 11259.” The movement shows superior quality by this maker of repute. It comes with ruby jewels, a gold pallet fork and a lever escapement. The double hinge back case is also signed “J. Assmann Glashutte” is marked on the white porcelain dial along with Arabic chapters, a black minute track and 5-minute numerals. Beautiful gold Louis XIV hands center the dial. $2,250.00

Julius Assmann was born October 2, 1827 in Stettin. He was an apprentice to many fine watch and chronometer makers. He had a long working relationship with F. Adolph Lange of Glashutte. He created his own business after many years of association with Lange. He died in 1876 and in 1877 his son carried on the watch making firm. The Assmann Company manufactured ultra high-grade lady’s and men’s watches, chronographs, complicated watches and moon phase watches.

#13. H. R. EKEGREN (COPENHAGEN) HIGH-GRADE BACK-SET GENT’S WATCH

This rare timepiece comes in a solid gold double hinged back case which is engraved “H. R. Ekegren Copenhagen Made For J. E. Caldwell & Co. Philadelphia” on the inner cuvette. The high-grade case comes with Jurgensen-style lips, the case is plain polished. The superior grade 20 jewel nickel bridge movement features wolfs tooth winding gears, a micro-metric regulator and a sophisticated bi-metallic balance wheel with lever escapement. The movement is signed “H. R. Ekegren Copenhagen.” The Ekegren” signature also appears on the white porcelain dial which is marked with fancy black Arabic hour chapters, a black minute track and gold Louis XIV hands. $1,100.00

Henri-Robert Ekegren associated himself in 1891 with E. Koehn, he is a watch maker of high repute for his sophisticated quality of work. He had a patent for an oil for horology which he presented in 1874. A committee experimented with the new oil in 1888 at the Art Society of Geneva and ultimately determined it to be the best that has ever been produced until that day. He became a watch maker to the King of Denmark and received a gold metal at the Universal Exhibition of Paris in 1867, in Vienna in 1873, in Philadelphia in 1876 and in Paris in 1878.

Caldwell & Co.” The heavy gold double hinged back case is plain polished. The movement is signed “Vacheron & Constantin” as well as “J. E. Caldwell & Co. This collectible triple signed “Patek” comes in an original case which is engine turned on the back cover. The inner cuvette is signed “No. 94242 Patek Philippe & Co. Geneve.” The 15 jewel gilt bridge movement features wolfs tooth winding gears, it also features a lever escapement with a mustache-style pallet fork. The movement is signed and numbered on the main bridge. The white enameled dial is marked with Roman chapters, a black minute track and black 5-minute numerals. The dial is centered by blue spade pointers and is signed “Patek Philippe & Co. Geneve.”   $3,200.00

#16. PATEK PHILIPPE RARE ORNATE GOLD HUNTERS CASE

This is an exceptional Patek Philippe hunters case. The case is signed “Patek Philippe No. 58590 Maurer y Ca Barcelona” on the inner cuvette. The heavy gold case is completely engraved with wonderful swirling leaf and vine patterns. A small initialed crest appears on the back cover and the fully engraved front cover carries a majestic raised relief overlay monogram design. The case opens to reveal a beautiful white porcelain dial with large Roman chapters, a black minute track and rose-gold spade pointers. The interesting and unique 15 jewel 3/4 plate nickel movement is signed “No. 58590 Patek Philippe ya Ca Dinebra.” The movement features a lever escapement, a bi-metallic balance wheel and a circular disc regulator. $4,750.00

#17. INVICTA RARE GOLD RING WATCH

This circular ring form case is embellished with a full diamond bezel. The case tops a beautiful gold ring mount decorated with flowers on the side areas. The shank is numbered 17330, it forms to a size 6-1/2 but is spring loaded for arthritic comfort. The gilt 20 jewel movement shows exceptional workmanship with a straight line lever escapement and a compensated balance. “Invicta” is marked on the silver dial along with black Arabic chapters, a black minute track and blue batons.

Fifteen ruby jewels appear on this gilt bridge movement which has a lever escapement and compensated bi-metallic balance wheel. The back cover of the timepiece has a silver and gold disc-style day-date dial along with a month window and a central blue indicator hand. The front dial is porcelain with Roman chapters. This dial is signed “Calendrier Brevete German Manufactury.” The central dial disc below the colorful blue and rose-gold moon symbol is signed “J. Verhagen & Co. Koeln.” $1,250.00

#20. SWISS RARE TWO BARREL 8-DAY KEYWIND

Very unique, this one-of-a-kind movement is fascinating. It features two main spring barrels and eighteen large ruby jewels. The gilt bridge movement is controlled by a side lever escapement and a steel escape wheel. The inner cuvette of the timepiece is engraved with fancy flowers and engine turnings. The cuvette is signed “Movement a Huit Jours.” The gold case is smooth on the back and finished with scalloped patterns along the edges. The fancy gold dial features a village and sailboat scene engraved at center. Gold Breguet moon hands and raised rose-gold Roman hour chapters mark the eye catching dial. #21. HUGUENIN VUILLEMIN SWISS EXTRA-SHARP GOLD KEYWIND WITH CHRONOMETER ESCAPEMENT

Exquisite condition is the trademark of this wonderful gilt bridge movement. The movement comes with a pivoted chronometer escapement and ruby jewels. Gold set cap jewels appear on the escape wheel and the chronometer pivot. The inner cuvette is signed “Chronometer Huguenin Vuillemin.” The hunters case is nicely engine turned on both sides, an uninitialed fancy oval frame appears on the front and a reeded pattern decorates the outer rim. The dial is beautifully marked with classic Roman chapters and a black minute track. The porcelain dial is complemented by exquisite rose-gold Fleur-de-lis and arrow form hands. $3,500.00

#22. WALTHAM WILLIAM ELLERY WITH RARE DUST PROOF CASE

This very collectible heavy sterling case is marked with a patent date of 1889. The swing out-style case is uniquely designed with a thread down upper winding stem and cap combination. The uniqueness of this case is also in the fact that it has a wonderful reeded and swirl design around the front bezel of the perimeter of the back cover. The central band comes with a zig zag line pattern. A heavy glass crystal protects the single sunk Roman dial which is complemented by blue spade pointers. The Model 79 11 jewel William Ellery nickel movement is finished with broad straight line damaskeened patterns. $700.00

This fine American 3/4 plate nickel movement is signed “A. W. W. Co. Waltham Mass.” The 17 jewel mechanism is finished with straight line damaskeening and it features patent dates on the main plate. The dial is centered by a fly back sweep second hand which is operated from a button positioned on the rim of the case. The dial is also marked with Arabic hour chapters, red outer 5-minute numerals and 1/5 second markings. Blue spade pointers complete this chronograph dial. The heavy gold case is nicely engine turned and is signed “A. W. Co.” It is centered by a small initialed crest and leaf patterns on the front cover. $1,000.00

This superior grade 3/4 plate nickel movement is signed “B. W. Raymond Elgin 21 Jewels Adjusted 5 Positions.” The movement is fully damaskeened and presented with a diamond endstone and ruby jewels in gold screw down settings. The double hinged back case is engraved with an uninitialed oval frame on the back cover. It carries beaded patterns on the edges and a deeply reeded outer rim. The dial features a 40-hour up/down wind indicator chapter at the 12 o[‘clock position. The original dial is marked with Arabic chapters and bright red 5-minute numerals. This scarce 18 size indicator is also completed by heavy blue spade pointers. $1,900.00

This full plate movement comes with twenty-three ruby jewels. It features fancy damaskeening, gold lettering and a recessed balance assembly. The movement is marked “Adjusted 5 Positions.” It carries a rare up/down 36-hour wind indicator which is positioned below the 12 o’clock area on the double sunk white porcelain dial. The dial is marked with Arabic chapters, red 5-minute marks and keystone shapes at the 5-minute positions. The screw back/bezel case is elaborately engraved with a fancy vine pattern which forms a heart-shaped frame around the center uninitialed crest. Railroad Magnet Chicago, Ill.” Checkerboard damaskeening ornaments the scarce movement which carries a compensated balance and Chalmers patented micro metric regulator. The hunters case is embellished with a small village scene, leaf patterns and flowers, the front carries an uninitialed frame. The white enameled dial is single sunk and marked with black Roman chapters and a black minute track, blue spade pointers center the dial. $1,350.00

Very rare, this wonderful timepiece features a phenomenal 3/4 plate nickel movement which is finished with a complex fish scale damaskeened design. Patent dates appear on the central bridge. The movement is fully jeweled throughout the chronograph gears and the time train. The movement features a bi-metallic balance wheel and a golden pallet fork bridge. The mechanism is also signed “Woerd’s Patent” below the balance assembly. The ultra-rare, ultra-heavy, “Waltham” signed double hinged back 18K Gold, case is decorated with silver and gold raised leaf motifs which form a multi-colored border around the front bezel and the outer back edge. The back of the case also carries a raised rose-gold crescent moon and star design. The dial is centered by two sweep second chronograph hands and heart-shaped hour/minute hands. Very impressive, this rare transitional movement can either be stem wound or key wound. The nickel movement comes with 15 jewels and a lovely damaskeened finish. The mechanism is signed “John W. Lewis Marion, N. J.” A butterfly cutout appears over the pallet fork and the escape wheel on this rare American timepiece. Butterfly-shaped hands and Roman chapters mark the original single sunk porcelain dil which is signed “United States Watch Co.” The all original heavy gold hunters case is very impressive. The 18K Gold, gold case is engraved with a name and the date 1875 on the inner cuvette. Engine turnings, beautiful leaf and berry designs ornament both sides of the case which carries a diagonal reeded pattern on the outer rim and an uninitialed fancy crest which centers the front cover. $2,500.00

Aaron Lufkin Dennison was born 1812 and died 1895 was the founder of the American Watch industry. Dennison’s name appeared on many watches, by Waltham, but it was always accompanied with another of the founders names such as Dennison Howard & Davis. This is a first for Ashland, we have never seen a Waltham movement solely signed by his name alone. This is a very unique piece that will be a rare find for any Waltham collector.

The winding arbor is through the dial and there is no wear around the winding arbor which can occur with these early watches. This 15 jewel gilt movement is a quarter-hour repeater. The repeat mechanism is activated by pulling the plunger away from the watch and then giving it a quarter of a turn and then pushing down on the plunger to wind the mechanism. This movement is a cylinder escapement and has a fancy silver dial. The watch has black Alpha hands and the silver dial has black Roman hour chapters and a black outer minute track. The dial has some damaskeening progressing toward the center of the dial. The enameled case on this repeater is what really sets it apart. The blue, white and black enamel really stand out with the soldiers helmet and sword decoration on the back. This soldiers decoration is extremely rare to find on pocket watches, more so on repeaters. $3,750.00

This exquisite gilt case is decorated with numerous Cherubs on the side edges. The figures are shown playing with garlands of roses. The bottom panel is marked “Swiss 757” and the top panel features a scallop edge and crisscross pattern. The polychrome enameled oval lid is finely detailed with a colorful motif showing a young boy and a beautiful lady. The bird exhibits brilliantly colored feathers. While the four cam mechanism is activated, the bird sings while moving back and forth, his beak opens and closes, the tail feathers and the wings move. $5,000.00

This extremely decorated snuff tin has many designs throughout its raised relief. There are many floral designs on this piece along with two scenes, both containing palm trees and a house. This very rare piece has about 1/4 Ct. diamond as a push button opening and does have case springs in it to help the lid pop open. The heavy decoration of this piece even applies itself to the top where there is also very nice floral raised relief all around the rim and on the center of the top. The maker of this tin did not leave any detail unfinished. The detail is great enough that you could count how many blades of grass are in each scene. $4,500.00

This watch has gold beetle & poker hands and a gold calendar marker. The repeat mechanism is activated by pushing down on the plunger and since it is a toc repeater, there is no musical chime, the hammers strike against the case so that you feel the vibrations. This movement is a gilted verge movement and is an extremely rare piece to find. The verge fusee is centered by a two-footed pierced balace cock and a silver disc regulator.
