The Cheshire Watch Co. was formed in 1883 by George J. Capewell along with D. A. A. Buck who was the original designer of the Longwind Waterbury. Basic production was approximately 200 watches per day. The factory closed in 1890 going into receivership. The receiver had 3,000 movements finished in 1892. In 1901 O. E. Bell purchased the machinery and had it shipped to Appleton, Wisconsin where he had formed the Remington Watch Co. This Northwestern special 21 jewel is exceedingly rare.
